2014 Bentley Mulsanne - A Owners Perspective

OWNERSHIP ...
You know as a Writer the first thing I though about when I bought my 2014 Mulsanne, was the FONT. This was my 3rd one and each time the same question seemed to come to mind...what font would capture the entire pure essence of the simplicity of such unparalleled craftsmanship and design...? This time it didn't take long as the Font "Papyrus" quickly came to mind. I had been using it almost exclusively over the last few months. And when I saw the 2014 Mulsanne by Bentley I knew. Papyrus is an elegantly designed Font, Slim curvaceous riddled with powerful lines and easy to read. I use like others most often to describe products and services of a much higher integrity...considered by many an upscale Font.

A perfect fit...this was in fact a Bentley, a Mulsanne  A car, A statement, A reason for being. One of the few Automobiles on the planet that require most men to step up in some way, shape or form.
The makers Bentley Motors Limited, Headquartered in Crew, England,  United Kingdom engineers, manufactures and distributes the most luxurious automobiles in the world. Master craftsmanship coupled with a 100-year finely tuned sense of tradition is displaced into each and every Mulsanne produced by Bentley.

2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 – Dedicated To My Father A Lifelong Ford Guy

So I sent my dad a copy and asked him to read it. Which he in turn abruptly mentioned the Mustang? I know right I was confused also. So I said let me take a look at Ford the Motor Company is offering for 2014, in terms of speed. I looked it up.
A little history – For so many years I had to sit back ans sympathize with my dad as Ford experimented with its Mustang. I had to sit there and watch each year as the Corvette rolled off the line and shot straight to the top of the sports car world. All the while Ford squeezed and stretched the Mustang swapped around engines (I believe at one time they even put a 4-cylinder in their “Premiere” sports car, explain that one)

The Cadillac 16 - A Perfect Combination Of Past and Future

The Cadillac 16 - A Perfect Combination Of Past and Future

In so many ways Cadillac has defined American Automotive Luxury  by not only meeting but consistently exceeding our expectations as drivers . Built purely as a "concept car" a Cadillac prototype is all that was intended. The 16 looked alike any other prototype on paper.

Concept to Prototype - A decision was made to take it off paper and bring it into reality. Shortly after a prototype were built and sent to select GM dealers for research marketing purposes. The reaction was both amazing and overwhelming. General Motors received over a dozen orders for the Cadillac 16 even though it had not set a price.

The 2012 Mecedes-Benz SLS AMG - The Perfect Roadster

This speaking frankly it really was and still is in a class all by itself. No one had any idea Mercedes-Benz has such a revolutionary idea tucked away for their 2012 year. The year started off like every other automotive speaking then this bombshell dropped. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

Few of us are old enough to actually appreciate the rich nostalgic history behind the original design. This $300,000 machine is actually paying homage to another Mercedes-Benz from a time long since gone. The original 300SL introduced the now famous Gull-Wing doors. The original made its debut back in 1954 closely followed the Roadster version in 1957.

Controlled Thunder - As most Supercars in its class the 2012 SLS AMG along with advanced engineering and countless features it is also stuffed with an insanely powerful  V-8 6.2 liter engine under the hood.  Which most owners found out that an engine of such power and complexity creates an almost symphonic rhythm when out on the open road at or around 100-120 Miles Per Hour. Thousands of parts all perfectly performing in a perfectly synchronized harmony to produce a mind blowing 479 lb-ft of Torque. Top speed is limited to 197 mph...0-60 in 3.7 Seconds...

Entirely hand built the initial process is started at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Graz, Austria then shipped to the finishing plant in Sindelfingen, Germany. The Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen employs over 28,000 highly specializes craftsman and workers. Each SLS AMG is completed and refined here before being shipped to select showrooms Worldwide.

Specifically hand built in a limited number for a limited audience. The SLS takes the traditional Mercedes appeal applied the 3L's. They made it "Longer, Lower and Lighter". Either going 80 MPH or at a dead standstill the car seems to clear the road by just a few inches while the hood itself is half the length of the car. The Feather weight frame makes for a light lean strong mean machine.

With all the Technical aspects out of the way lets get to the car. This is a car you could drive in every occasion. A spectacular night life in every aspect the ultimate scene stealer. Perfect for office commuting, especially in  a nice Silver or Black it would align you with the highly professional image you currently project at the office.

The car itself has limitless applications all over society.

A true pleasure to manipulate from behind the wheel. The raw power is felt openly while the steering itself is pure complete in every turn. All ready to be brought to standstill via the state of the art braking system designed especially for the SLS. A true Roadster that finally restores lost the art of driving.

A true reflection of both company heritage and tradition. A true down to Earth Roadster that doesn't have the intimidation factor most supercars like Lamborghini and Ferrari have. It;s simply a Gull-Winged Mercedes nothing fancy. It doesn't have mega V-12's that come in most cars in this class have or the outrageous styling we tend to get from the Italian Sportscar makers. Instead it has what feels like your own personal V-8 casually throwing around 563 HP a controlled explosion for lack of a better explanation.  as you accelerate.

This is true Mercedes-Benz in every way shape or form an instant classic. Another masterpiece from the German luxury car maker. By all definitions the perfect Roadster

2014 Chevy Stingray - A Classic Return To American Automotive Sporting

Watson Chevrolet – Home Of The New 2014 Corvette Stingray
Ray, Tucson Arizona

Thank goodness the Corvette Stingray is back and starting at $51,000 something with tradition something that shot up close to 200 MPH and most important something we can still afford! An American Classic revisited. From one of Americas best known car manufacturers. This was A beautifully designed high performance piece of machinery. I had been driving a Porsche for the last few years and wanted something new different. So when I learned they were starting off at only $51,000 I went up and took a look at one.
I mean for something which such a reputation I possibly move some things around and pick up one. Watson Chevrolet had a nice one on the showroom floor. A nice sleek Black one. It looked fast even as it sat motionless. It all checked out it was a Stingray. It had every aspect of the original Stingray only updated to fit neatly into 2014. As I approached it I felt that “Made In America” it was good to be back in an American situation 100% American. . The Stingray coupe tester with Z51package was $62,085, including $7,290 in options. Still a reasonable justifiable purchase for a man like myself. I'd earned my keep etched my way and should be able to move about Tucson in such fashion as a Stingray would provide. After all I did have a 1977 Corvette back in college. This is the 7th generation Corvette which meant I had been away for a while. And it was sexy car I mean I really was having a hard time paying attention to the gentleman talking. I wanted to look at this car. I mean I was already weeks ahead mentally in the plans I had for this car and was ready to get started.
It was sitting there looking as if it had been poured onto its four wheels. Hiding a LT1 6.2 L V8 (376 cu in) making 455bhp under the hood. A live in-person Chevy Stingray, an instant front runner for the 2014 Motor Trend Sports car of the year award under $100,000. What was the world of Sports Car coming to? Ironically the car itself is well worth $100,000. I mean thank goodness I didn't have to but if it came to it I would pay $100,000 for it. With a standard trim, the V-8 has a respectable 455-horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque at 4,600 rpm. Opting for the performance exhaust ($1,195) I would get 460-hp and 465 lb.-ft. torque. With the Z51 package, I could move from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. The newly designed aluminum frame is both stronger and lighter combined with the monster 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine sitting atop Michelin Pilot Super Sport run-flats P245/40R 18-inch front and P285/35R19-inch rear tires together it all equates to pure speed pure unfiltered speed.
Made right here in America in Bowling Green Kentucky its covered from bumper to bumper with an excessive 3-years/36,000-miles bumper to bumper with 2-years free scheduled maintenance (oil and filter); 5-years/100,000-miles powertrain warranty sponsored by Chevy. All this fits right in with my effort to both “Buy USA” and support the local community in the process. After all Watson Chevrolet has been a solid staple of the community for some years now.
I was kind of tuning in and out on the conversation until I heard the magic words “ Would you like to test drive it?” Now we needed to talk. First off I wanted to drive a convertible which I expressed and was told there was in fact a Silver one that could be brought around whenever I was ready to test it. “Well let's bring that around” I said I didn't see any sense in waiting or talking any longer. The dealer didn't understand I had thoroughly researched this vehicle an done so for quite some time. I knew what I wanted they just had it. This was the 2014 Corvette Stingray like the first Stingray it really sold itself. I test drove it and again had my expectations exceeded.
Long story short I ordered A Black one convertible.
