2014 McLaren P1 Makes Its U.S.. Debut W/ Jay Leno

 2014 McLaren P1

Finally the very first 2014 McLaren has made its ways to the United States. Seems only fitting the largest car collector in America get it! Jay Leno took delivery of his very own 2014 McLaren P1. Reportedly only a few hours ago. Although coming with a $1.15 Million Dollar sticker while boasting an unheard 903 horsepower engine this is still one of the most anticipated super-cars of this new decade. The P1 actually debuted at the Paris Motor Show, Mondial de l'Automobile back in 2012. It was more of a design study than a reality back then. Many wondered how anyone could get a car to go that fast be that powerful and still be feasible economical to drive at 38MPG.
We all remember the days of the 12 and 16cylinders that were going fast and hard in a straight line for a mile or so, if that. Managing a good 7-9 MPG before sucking down all the fuel. Those were the good old days of gas guzzlin' shooting in a straight line real fast! The McLaren P1 it seems is intended to be more than the builders of this super-car had a singular objective which such skill and technology at hand. And that was to hand craft the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished super-car ever made, introducing the the 2014 McLaren P1.

What makes the P1 special...glad you asked below are the specifications on the 2014 McLaren P1...
  • 3.8L V8 Twin-Turbo Hybrid
  • 0-60 in 2.8 Seconds
  • 28 MPG
  • Braking:60-0 in less than 100-Feet
We all remember back just 20 years ago when the McLaren F1 was introduced and how it immediately raise the performance bar. Seems we are at that point once again. The P1 is much more than just a car, a super-car it is in fact a culmination of years of technological advances all seemingly merged to work together in perfect harmony. The P1 it seems is more of culmination an culmination of over 50 years of automotive heritage and prestige as the McLaren name runs deep in racing with roots deeply connected.
Acceleration-seems getting it going is only half the battle. I mean anything you can get up to 217 MPH makes acceleration actually the bad guy. Myself and possibly a few more feel that stopping at such speeds should be deemed the more important of the two. Fortunately McLaren has taken this under consideration and actually done most super-car makers don't, mention the braking system.
Having to bring nearly 1,000 horsepower under control and to a stop is no easy task. Thank goodness McLaren addressed the issue of STOPPING the P1 as any successful super car has much better ways of stopping it than accelerating it.  Delivered by Akebono Systems are formulated Carbon Ceramic discs, coated in Silicon Carbide. A controlled inferno brings the P1 to a complete stop from over 60 MPH to 0 in less than 90  Feet using thousands of degrees of controlled heat.  Top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h (217 mph).

Geneva Motor Show 2014 - A Super Collection Of Supercars

3 Of The Hottest At Show

2014 McLaren 650S

Ferrari California T * McLaren 650S * Maserati Alfieri (Concept)

As it is every year the 2014 Geneva Auto Show was special, unique a true once in a lifetime experience. A super collection of super cars built to extreme specifications from the ground up with one purpose in mind...speed. Running from March 6th through the 16th the auto show housed possibly the largest collection (outside of Jay Leno) of the world's fastest production cars. At least until the next super ultra car show comes around.
Geneva 2014 however seemed to be a little different. As opposed to a mega collection of expensive cars on display for public consumption. This year, it seemed much more deeply rooted names of the auto industry titans such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and so many more all here not just to show off a fast car but also display the epitome of years of intense research, design, innovation and technology. A series of countless systems all placed together to work in perfect harmony to achieve a single solitary objective...200 Miles Per Hour.
So let's a take quick look at 3 of the hottest of show

  • 2014 Ferrari California T - The T stands for Turbo. For the first time in a long time Ferrari has indeed turbocharged one of its  engines. Not since the the days of the powerful F40 has the company used the technology. Apparently they saw a need to go back to it in California for 2014. Besides being a beautiful car by design as most Ferrari's The California is also quick on its feet. Decidely they went with the monstrous 552-hp twin-turbocharged V-8pushing out 557 lb-ft of torque at will. A great match with the California T weighing in at 4000 pounds. The 3.9 Liter in unisome with the 7-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission does a great job of getting the California T from 0-60 in a little over 3.5 seconds.
  • 2014 McLaren 650S - (pictured above) Many believe this model was introduced to do battle head-to-head with the Porsche 911. Others say it is simply an introduction into an untapped market for the British company and this their way of saying hello! Making its debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show the 650S is truly McLarens first attempt at the mid-size market. Usually when the name McLaren is mention its synonymous with massive horsepower, extreme torque and such. Yet the 650S is vying for place somewhere in the middle. Mid-range doesn't mean a power shortage the 650S still comes with McLaren's infamous 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8, the 650S packs 641 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to hit 60 in a brisk 3 seconds.
  • 2014 Maserati Alfieri Concept - Technically this car is still a concept yet to go into production. But what a concept! unveiled to the world for the first time in Geneva the Alfieri is a creation to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the storied automaker. Named after Alfieri Maserati, one of the Maserati brothers who founded Officine Alfieri Maserati. This concept was designed at the Maserati Centro Stile in Turin and is unquestionably the sleekest Maserati we have seen in quite a few years. The Alfieri has what many call a truly timeless design as it thrust you back into the stylish 60's of the Top-Hat wearing Pipe smoking secret-agent yet pushes you into the unknown future with styling and design far too advanced to be understood. Like most Concept cars we never really know if they will go into production and we can only keep our fingers crossed with this one it does..

The New 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish - Elegant Expedited Movement

 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish

Recently I was tapped by a potential buyer to write a review on the new 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish. They wanted to know if the car was worth the quarter million sticker price.  They wanted to know out of all the options available, of all the 12 Cylinders available why Aston Martin? Of all ways, both hardtop and convertible in which to reach 200 MPH, why Aston Martin, why the Vanquish? I thought the questions poised were valid questions from a potential owner (plus it was a paying gig!) so I went right to work. I contacted a local dealer and made an appointment to come down and discuss the Vanquish. This is were the law of eccentricity comes into play. See since most millionaires are in fact extremely eccentric dealerships of such caliber as Aston Martin are forced to treat everyone with decency and respect (at least until they run your credit). Not saying in no way they wouldn't at any rate, fortunately we'll never know...So I put on a weird shirt and went down to the dealership.
Vanquish - To conquer or subdue by superior force, as in battle. This is what it means to Vanquish. Yet in the case of Aston Martin's Ultimate Grand Tourer we look at the word in a new perspective. Yes there are a number of ways to spend a quarter million in the name of expedited transportation. Ways like Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini and so forth. But for whatever reason here we are...power, prestige tradition, more than 100 years of it, throwing $250,000 at Aston Martin to find out exactly what they mean by Vanquish.
Immediately I'm impressed with both design and styling. Already it has done more at a standstill than most could at full speed. I had done a little preliminary research on the vanquish yet in person it was a different story. I saw a vehicle that made me think of limitations, a vehicle that had me intrigued in many ways. I'd seen many photos of the Vanquish yet in person it still had a lot more to offer. I looked in through the passengers window as I approached. I looked in on a cockpit as opposed to a cabin. The technology seamlessly combined with the highest grade of materials available made for an ergonomically perfect environment. One that invited the adventure it could so effortlessly produce. I saw myself within so many scenarios alongside this very Vanquish.
The Vanquish is powered by Aston Martin’s flagship AM11 Gen4 V12, a 5.9 Liter V12  most powerful production engine in Aston Martin history! This engine has been tested and proven to move the 2014 Vanquish from dead standstill to 62 MPH in a mere 4.1 Seconds. This is power on all 12 Cylinders, this is true Aston Martin power.
front-mid mounted engine displacing power to the rear wheels. In many opinions a near perfect engine, a few years ago and they went and touched it up even more. How much more you ask...The claim has been made that this is the
I was impressed by the fact that I had been at the dealership for almost an hour and no one had approached me. I was able to look over the Vanquish at my leisure and match up most of the facts and figures I had researched to the actual vehicle. I do have to say that for the most It did exceed a lot of my own expectations. I knew sooner or later I would be approached. Fortunately I had a fresh copy of the digital brochure downloaded to my phone. So much of what I wanted to know I already knew! This was more of mission of validation, a quest for information.
I was impressed at how the Vanquish was able to pull off both the sporty and elegant look. A rare feat in today's highly specialized market of ultra-luxury-super-cars. I opened the driver's side door and that's when the Aston Martin mystique became more than obvious. The smells of such highly exotic materials that emanated from the cabin. I got in and sat behind the wheel. The Vanquish continued at a standstill to make impressions that exceeded the speed limit.
Already I had more than enough info to write a thorough review from several perspectives, especially the one my potential buyer wanted. The car literally spoke for itself in many ways. I mean from an artistic perspective there it sat beautiful, a perfect balance of power and style. The uniqueness of the Vanquish will in every way seamlessly transfer to its owner. A clear separation of classes, the Vanquish, the absolute best in elegant transportation had to offer. I looked forward to writing my review on the Vanquish very soon. I had been impressed with the quarter million dollar super-car.
