The all-new 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS has finally put the 911 ahead of the rest...by at least a half-second. Yet had it not been for legendary executive Peter Schutz, the 2018 911 GT2 RS would never exist. When Peter Schutz was hired as CEO of Porsche AG back in January of 1981 Porsche wasn’t doing so well and the 911 was seen as one of its biggest liabilities. The company was looking for ways to improve, mainly in cutbacks.  So it was decided, just a few weeks after Schutz was hired, the Legendary 911 model must go!

 The new CEO immediately put his foot down. He refused to cut the 911 from the lineup. Instead Schutz insisted the model was still very popular and could be returned to its former days of glory. He demanded the companies engineers and designers take a closer look into the model and find ways to improve it, to bring back its deep rooted heritage.

In response the company did just that! Each year improving recreated the model. Over his brief 7 year reign as head of Porsche Schutz single-handedly brought the 911 back from the grave and placed it forever back in the spotlight.  We all know the rest. The 911 model went on to become one of the most successful sport scars ever produced, culminating in the all-new 2018 911 GT2 RS.
