Pure Italian Art At 200 MPH...The Bugatti EB110

Pure Italian Art At 200 MPH...The Bugatti EB110

The year is 1994 and the world's fastest production car is also one of the the most beautiful pieces of machinery ever created. Originally a French company it was re-formed in the 1990's now Italian owned, true racing heritage backing. As stated the car itself is simply amazing with a monster V-12 that revs at an insane 8,200 RPM! Yes it is a Quad Cam and also has a six-speed transmission. The car looks to be in motion even while perfectly still. This machine really does prove that looks are intimidating as you look at it from all 360' Degrees it looks like one word, one phrase it relays one sole singular message...Speed. The front end is menacingly intimidating as it glares back at you. Everything you ever dreamed about going fast can realistically be attained right here with this one machine...the Bugatti. A single solitary statement of excess in every possible aspect of transportation. It has every single feature that was available back in 1993 from All-Wheel Drive, Butterfly Doors, state of the art Quad Cam a feature still highlighted to this day. The fact that it has 4 Turbo-chargers does make a difference no need to be modest as there is nothing at all modest when it comes to Bugatti, namesake.
Introducing the EB110 Super-Sport. Yep someone told Bugatti the EB110 wasn't powerful enough so they went and created an EB110 Super-sport! With a top speed of 221 MPH the Super-sport easily took the crown of the worlds fastest production car and kept it for over a decade. The Super-sport also had a little known advantage as well, it was an amazing 441 lbs lighter than the original!
Tradition Fact:
NAMESAKE:
To honor Ettore Bugatti, the EB 110 was created. ’EB’ was short for Ettore Bugatti. Launched on Ettore’s 110 birthday, 09-15-1991, the naming EB 110 was formed. It was first shown to the public at the Grande Arche at La Défense in Paris, France.

Conveniently priced at $500,000 back when they were first released ironically today they are worth even more as only a limited number where actually produced and sold they are truly ultra-rare collectors items. As with every work of art this to was truly ahead of its time and can now only be truly appreciated decades later when we as people have finally caught up.

Classic Super Cars 1980 BMW M1

Classic Super Sports Cars High-Performance Machines Of A Bygone Era

The 1980 BMW M1 A street legal Race Car

Today I start a series on the Supers Sports cars of the past. I will feature, compare and analyze some of the most famous Sports Super Cars ever built. I will reach out to cover such topics as heritage, history and most important tradition. You see a sports car is much more than a machine, it represents so many other things on some many other levels. I mean the there have been times when the politics of a nation has rested solely on the shoulders of their sports cars. One of the first and still most popular competitions on an international level is Auto Racing. We may think that major league sports here in America is a big ticket item but truthfully we have more NASCAR faithfuls right here America than all major league events combined!
As a child I have the fondest memories of the sports cars that were around. I like to reflect on the year, make and model of a specific model and just think back on the history of the model. Some made it others didn't. In my opinion one of the best sports cars ever made (for one year) was the Delorean. But I mean the Delorean just goes to show the power of the Sports Car in today's society. Now most of these Super Cars have been relegated to collectors' items sitting in garages across America. So I decided to write about them hoping we can get em out and on the roads and highways this Summer!
So my 1st Super car fits the mold perfect designed "as a race car" this car has an amazing structure I mean it was BMW's mid-engine car ever. It ran off of a straight-six twin cam with a displacement of 3,453cc, pure power all controlled by a ZF 5-speed manual transmission which meant when you shifted into gear you felt it. As you can see it did have a very basic look about it almost deceptive to a point. I mean if you saw it parked on the side of the street it just doesn't look as fast as it is. It was one of the first Super Cars to make the transition away from an all metal body. This model here although seated on a steel chassis has a fiberglass body. This car safe to say featured a technology ahead of it's time as I said before built as a street legal Race Car the M1 came from the factory with race car styled "Double Wishbone Suspension" in the front and rear. Slow down, the street legal versions of the M1 had servo assisted brakes which appropriately was needed to slow down and stop the 3,122 pound Super Car.
Ironically no one could tell if this car was ahead of it's time or past it's prime. After only a year of production in 1981 production is halted only with 450 cars ever produced. The M1 a true German statement of engineering pride on a worldwide scale. And today a most coveted collectors item.

Reventon by Lamborghin

A Super Sports Car Revention by Lamborghini

Reventon Automobile or Work of Art? The question is simple or is it, lets look a little further into it. As with all works of art there are the limitations. The difference in a masterpiece to me is simply how well an artist works within his guidelines. The Bullfighter has a Ring as confinement. Within these walls of limitation he must defeat his foe, Reventon. Within these limitations he has everything an artist needs in which to create Technology, Style, Handling and most important Power. In a quest for victory he applies these tools in cohesion to one another, perfectly timed to be utilized when most effective. Yet the artist does not always submerge victorious, there are no guarantees. Sometimes the art itself overcomes the artist! Is this what happened back in 1943 when Reventon, not Felix Guzman stood victorious?
Do we remember the art? The natural beauty of the beast itself. The splendor of his movements versus the Matador. We must 64 years later the victor has been resurrected, Reventon. As it sits perfectly still it seems to be in motion. As with all art, the inanimate seems to come to life. An automotive masterpiece. The perfect balance of Technology, Style, Handling and Power finally achieved.
As with all art, imitation sincerely is the purest form of flattery. Lamborghini set out to make an automobile that would defeat the “Laws of Motion” just as it's namesake had also defeated the laws of bullfighting” some 64 years ago! The Technology of the Reventon like all works of art is well ahead of it's time. The Styling is what makes the Reventon one of the few automobiles that can always get whatever is being asked in return for such a work. This is defined as priceless. Reventon is Spanish also means “Explosion” which would be the only way to accurately describe the handling of such a machine, a controlled explosion. Very few men will ever have this type of automotive power at their disposal, very few. The ability to outrun every single thing on earth.
This is in fact as proven both a Automobile as well as a Work of Art. A man made object that can truly be considered priceless.

1,000hp What If...

A Super Concept Car

 1,000 hp What If...
What if this Supercar really came to be?

In 2003 one of the most coveted luxury car makers in the world unveiled a concept car at the Detroit Auto Show. The intention was to take an ultra-luxury vehicle and stuff an insane unheard of amount of horsepower under the hood. They called it the Cadillac 16. Making a huge splash a t the auto show it took home “Best In Show”. An excellent piece of machinery the Cadillac 16 actually exceeded developers expectations in several key areas such as performance handling and a few more.
What surprised both designers and developers alike was the overwhelming consumer reaction. Initially the 16 was built as only a prototype. Something the engineers at GM had toyed around with and actually got to work! Stacked with 1,000 hp it was something for the brave to put on the company test track. Then a few months later a magazine ran a small article on the Cadillac 16. Nothing super just pointing out a few features, mentioning a few specs and showing a few photos. But to GM's total surprise they received more then 130,000 orders from consumers for the Cadillla16 even though it officially didn't even have a price yet! With such an unexpected yet high demand serious talks started about mass production on the 16. All the big wigs gathered in one room and discussed the reality of mass production. The developers, designers and engineers met and went over the numbers, did the research, performed the equations. Then everyone had a meeting. Unfortunately just too many barricades existed and all through out. Research had showed that the “Ultra-Luxury” car market was currently overpopulated and had been for years by very well established names within the industry. Timing was also a key factor as the planet was turning Green and everyone was addressing the “Global Warming” issue at the time. Conservation was gaining momentum at the time, America was looking to save fuel as well as find alternatives. So you could see how especially from a consumer relations standpoint it would not have been on GM's best interest to mass produce such an Ultra-luxury super fuel consuming behemoth of a vehicle. Which also explains the last factor, pricing. At that time this was a recession torn country. So introducing a new model with a 6-digit price tag may not have went over too well then.
Ironically pricing was one of he main “In-House” reasons the 16 never came to market. GM could not find the proper pricing range for such a perplex vehicle. They simply didn't know what to charge for it. Pricing fluctuated from $120,000 up to $500,000 respectively. With such a price tag this was well above anything they had ever produced before so again GM was stuck with a dilemma. Where exactly would they place this vehicle within the segmented marketplace? As I said before the “Ultra-Luxury” Car marketplace was very well established and was at capacity in 2003-04.
Rock solid research showed that consumers at this level are “extreme” loyalist and very seldom if ever change brands. Meaning this is tradition this is a family line. Not only me but my father drove this brand vehicle is the logic. It has more to do with tradition than anything else. The proverbial nail in the coffin was struck when when data within the numbers proved that true Cadillac loyalist ironically could NOT afford the Cadillac 16. It's still nice to contemplate what if...what if we could have had 1,000 hp to do as we pleased.

The End

Federal Government car auctions can I really get a better deal ?

Can you really pick this up at auction??? The Car ???

Federal Government Car Auctions

I'm sure you've heard many people talk about the incredible savings to be had and how cheap you can get a car, truck or SUV from Federal government auctions. I found out the vehicles  themselves come from a few different places like drug and tax seizures, defaulted loans and leases, surplus inventory, repossession, fleet inventory. I would always hear about how much money was saved but never how to actually get involved. So I decided to do a little research. I found out that  the vehicles were obtained under some type of default which meant that unlike car dealerships these vehicles were a liability to the Government and MUST be sold quickly to avoid the excessive storage fee's and other issues that could come from sitting inactive for such long periods of time.
My neighbor came home a few weeks ago a new truck. He was more than excited to show it to me and I have admit it was the closest I've seen to new. I asked where he purchased it from really wanting to know what he paid. He was more than happy to answer both. It turns out he'd been a member of this website called gov-auctions for the past few months. So I asked him if he thought there were some good deals in the auctions. He responded cheerfully by telling me he'd only paid $8,200 for 2010 Chevy Silverado he was showing off! I was impressed as I knew this was a $24,000 truck still in immaculate condition he hit the key and started it up, it only had 9,600 miles on it!
He admitted he was a little skeptical in using the auction to buy a vehicle. He told me that the reason he went forward had a lot to do with the fact that it was an accredited website that they had been very successful in the auction business over the past 13 years said a lot. He explained how once he became a member he had 24 Hour access to auctions all across the United States, 7 days a week. He could take his time and search through the full database of auctions and listings of available cars, trucks and SUV's at up to 90% off retail Blue Book price. I asked what really was the the deciding factor in purchasing from an auction instead of a dealership. He was glad to explain how gov-auction website offered a free CARFAX VIN report to all buyers/bidders before the auction! he told me how he appreciated the fact that there was no pressure or up-selling such as in a dealership. He said the auction was a nice open environment where you could buy what you wanted and what applied to you. The CARFAX he said, gave him the peace of mind he needed when making a major purchases such as a vehicle. I asked him was the rest of the vehicles  at the auction as nice as the truck? He smiled and told me most the cars where in amazing shape, on average only 2-3 years old with anywhere between 25,000 and 40,000 miles on them! I thought to my self that's nicer than what's on most local used car lots here in town.
I was almost convinced I had only one more area of regard. Was it hard to but a vehicle at an auction? I asked him was the procedure a difficult one. He told me that it was actually quite easy. He explained that as the winning bidder you're required to pay $500 down with the rest being due in 24-48 hours. I was surprised at how easy it was and assumed it was because he was a member of the website and with membership came such privileges.
