The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 - Porsche has officially halted sales due to possible fires

Porsche has ordered it dealerships to stop selling the 2014 version of its elite GT3

Due to unexplained fires Porsche has asked owners to park their '2014 911 GT3's...

Early reports from Germany confirm that the GT3 may suffer from “Spontaneous combustion” as a couple overseas have reportedly burst into flames...for no apparent reason! Porsche USA is contacting current owners of the 2014 version and offering to have the GT3 picked up and returned to the nearest Porsche Centre for further analysis and repair.
The parent company Volkswagen, decided act to swiftly and decisively in the matter hoping to ensure customer safety, product integrity, brand durability. So they decided to recall all 785 of the extremely powerful 475-Horsepower 911 GT3's and “look em' over” so to speak. Early reports state that by doing so the company hopes to discover some sort of pattern or design flaw responsible for causing the '2014 GT3 to burst into flames!
So the next time you see a 911 GT3 I hope its just like the one in this picture..at a DEAD stand still!

Through a statement issued today directly by Porsche USA...

Today, Porsche has updated its stance on the issue with a statement in which it asks owners to stop driving their '14 GT3s, and confirms that a fault may exist with the engine, but notes that no injuries or accidents have occurred as a result:
"Safety is a number one priority at Porsche, and the company takes its responsibility seriously. After engine damage occurred in two vehicles in Europe and the vehicles then caught fire. Porsche decided to inspect all 785 delivered vehicles worldwide. There was no traffic accident and no personal injure. Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet.”
Porsche has gave its word it will report on any new findings immediately in relation to the matter." Whether or not you have to wait for the call as an owner, I'm not sure. I would think you could actively call your local Porsche Centre and inquire in regards to your GT3. Whatever you do make sure you have the matter addressed as the dangers of spontaneous combustion are a reality on this model Porsche, the 2014 GT3

Porsche USA guarantees it is intensely studying the issue to find a solution. They have promised to keep both their dealerships and their customers updated in every way in regards to the issue. Also at least until they figure out a quick fix or solution pay a little more attention to who your sitting next to at the light! Hopefully not a 2014 GT3!

So if your one of the 785 owners of the GT3 2014 please drive your Corvette instead! At least until Porsche can get a handle on these “Spontaneous” 911 GT3's.

The 2014 Kia Cadenza Limited - A New Entry Into The Luxury Sedan Market

              Dedicated To My Father

The All-New 2014 KIA Cadenza Premium

For years we've all been waiting on KIA to toss something serious into the "Luxury Sedan" market. I mean those spectacular warranties seem like such a waste on a "normal" car ( I mean speaking from a luxury standpoint). Well it seems that time has finally come. The all-new KIA Cadenza Limited for 2014 is indeed something for most other luxury sedan makers to sit up and take notice of...
All previous models of Cadenza prior to 2014...well lets just chalk up to the learning curve. The '14 on the other hand came ready to play with the big boys. A bonafide solid all-around full-sized luxury sedan complete with sufficient power, styling and comfort. It seems as though the KIA Cadenza has serious intentions on becoming a well-known within the luxury sedan market. Setting a new precedence in itself, this is KIA's largest most expensive offering to date. With such a bold statement as the Cadenza, KIA clearly seems to be asking; "are we considered established automakers? Moreso, Do we have our feet firmly planted, as a reputable world-wide brand?"  It seems they choose the 2014 Cadenza to literally test that waters. To place a sedan of such caliber into an already highly competitive, well-established slightly over populated automotive class such as the one the Cadenza was placed in could be taken by some as a challenge. I mean what is the real message here? Can they, I mean will they use the '14 Cadenza to literally redefine the market altogether? Will a new standard be set? Will $40,000 now buy what $100,000 used to?

It was clear from class-comparison the Cadenza Limited had its sights set on the BMW 5-Series and similar classed Mercedes.  Although a fraction of the cost the Cadenza was able to sit there comfortably with them and offer its passengers the same if not even more amenities and features. Ironically the Cadenza squared up shoulder to shoulder with the more widely known well established luxury same-sized sedans such as the Lexus ES 350 or the Acura TL actually offering a lot more for a lot less.
Is this acceptable...can the Cadenza Limited slowly yet methodically set a new tone for $40,000 American Dollars? Overall it seems to be a good even mixture of features and specifications that already seem hard to hold down under $50,000! As most major Automotive publications confirmed soon after its debut the '14 Cadenza moved quickly past similar mid-level entry sedans, sedans such as Toyota Avalon, Chevy Impala and Nissan Maxima. This was possibly due to such features included on the Cadenza. Features such as Luxury grade steering and suspension, advanced SMART Cruise Control, UVO eServices and more. The majority of the reviews the Cadenza Limited received actually placed it in a pay-grade well above its own. Confirming what we already thought...this is too much car for the money!
The '14 Cadenza limited has been called by many a nice V6 blend, not too stoic looking where needs a driver. yet elegant enough to be taken seriously, formally. Cabin noise is minimal if any as the the Cadenza moves you comfortably along oblivious to the outside world. Each and every one of the drivers commands being processed into the 8' Inch Central Command Unit immediately as ordered. Very nicely proportioned both lengthwise and weight the Cadenza limited seems to fit perfectly with its very own 3.3 Liter V6 which forces out an impressive 293 Horsepower at will. Moving you along silently effortlessly from Point A to Point B. This is the Cadenza Limited for 2014 presented by KIA...The End

The Chevy Camaro & The 427 cid Engine A Perfect Marriage Thanks To Don Yenko

60's Camaros With 427-cid Corvette Engines - Apex Of Muscle Car Power
                   Yenko Chevy's...simply fast simply beautiful.

While researching Muscle cars of the 1960's I came across an interesting find. The Chevy Camaro, particularly the late 1960's models. Seems American car makers were knee-deep into speed, handling and performance. What the hell gas was cheap and the guidelines hadn't been fully set in place as they are today. So you could actually get in behind the wheel of a nice Big Block V8 and drive it at some insane speed with little or no resistance. America it seemed was "wide open" to so many new concepts and ideas, the Muscle Car was but one.
Car makers immediately jumped on the band wagon. Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Oldsmobile, AMC all began to focus on one particular model they produced and stuffed an insane amount of power under the hood, beefed up the suspension, exhaust and more. A lot of the cars of the time actually created acronyms based on some of the "Hot-Rod" lingo of the day. Cars like the Olds 4-4-2 which stood for 4-Speed 4-Barrel (carb) 2-exhaust (dual) and meant it! Or the Pontiac GTO which meant Gas Tires and Oil! Which it burned through a lot of. Overall The Muscle cars of the era where a pleasure to drive. Many models were available in convertible as well. Yet above and beyond all they were fast! Finally the rest of the world exclaimed, the Americans have built a fast car.
Retired race car driver Don Yenko who at the time was selling Chevy's as an authorized dealer decided to get inventive and developed his own line of signature Chevelles, Camaros and Novas. The Yenko Super Cars as they quickly became known already had the largest engine being installed in Chevelle SS's. This was the "super" engine developed by Chevy exclusively for speed, the 396 cid V8. So if that wasn't enough Yenko decided to equip his acquired models with the monstrous Chevrolet 427 cid V8.Although he only converted a few they became instantly very popular and highly sought after collectors items almost immediately.

The epitome of the "Yenko" Super Cars in many opinions is clearly the 1967 & '68 Camaro's retrofitted with the now famous 427 cid. The request became so popular that Don Yenko actually talked Chevy into dropping a few of them in a few of their other models right off the line. Of course other dealers jumped n on the act an modified a few of their models. But the Yenko Chevy was the Chevy when the smoke cleared on muscle cars. Many say he actually reached a Carroll Shelby status over at Ford, the world will never know the truth.
As I said earlier the two were a perfect fit. Of course an engine of such raw power would have propelled many cars to triple digit speeds in a matter of seconds but the Camaro was just that right proportion. The rear end was perfect on the 68' it also had those hips that looked like they were there just to hold down that back end. Actually both the front and rear ends were cut at a perfect length. This is probably why the Camaro gets so much attention as it doesn't look like most of the surfboards  disguised as mid-sized cars. The car was short and stout and looked as if it could handle the 427, 427 Cubic Inches, unheard of.
Based on the specifications such as length, width and weight the Camaro was a perfect fit for the 427 cid. They went into a few different models of Chevy back then but when the 427 cid was mated up with the Camaro, it was truly something special. All true Muscle Car fans take a moment of silence...out of respect for the 427. One of the best American powerplants ever produced.
Along with the Chevelle the Camaro pretty much sat atop the Muscle car world since as long as they had these 427's nothing else could touch them. The Chevelle's were able to get up to nice speeds as well but its weight had to be considered. Whereas with the Camaro, as long as the trunk was empty it would move! Before the Yenko  versions came about the Camaro was commonly known as the poor man's Corvette. After Yenko the due to the fact that the cars were not initially marked in any way. Immediately A massive hunt ensued for  Camaro's. Due to the Yenko Camaro thinking had changed in regards to the Corvette, in fact it had changed a whole lot. It was more now like; If you could find a Yenko Camaro in good condition, damn a Corvette altogether! Afterall it was the same EVERYTHING for whole lot less!
Those were the days I tell you... gas was dirt cheap and we could still work on our own cars. Unfortunately the Muscle car trend hit its apex in the mid 70's with the fuel shortage, certain days we could get gas with even numbered license plates. That was horrible. The craziest thing about it all was that the carmakers quietly switched over to 4 Cylinders and just hoped we didn't notice. All of a sudden the cars we knew to come ready to go hard were now equipped with 4 Cylinders. This drug on into the 80's as well. I remember one year Chevy honestly put out a Corvette with 85  MPH on the Speedometer. The car synonymously known for and linked to teenage tragedy with a top speed of 85 Miles Per Hour! At any rate it was fun while it lasted. Many say that the Muscle is slated to make a return here shortly. I personally don't see how seeing how everyone is trying to 89 miles to the gallon then go home and plug  their cars in at night. Not to mention I've seen some cars on the street not too much bigger than the 427 engine!  Me personally I'm thinking of getting a bike and grabbing on to the side of one of these tiny 1-Cylinders on the streets today. Performing at 0-60 in just over 10 minutes I really see no threat of injury as we both accelerate, together.
Personally I have a quest as I have never actually met a 427  in person, I would like to. To snatch open the hood on something and read the numbers as they sit...427 would be a nice experience indeed. I used to live in L.A. and I've met a few stars and entertainers, trust me it gets weird after a while, sort of awkward. Me personally I would much rather hear him turn over that massive 427, than listen at some actor lie to both of us. I would much rather listen to this engines turn over

Years later many came to realize in hindsight that the Camaro/427 was indeed a perfect marriage.  Don Yenko bonafide Chevy GURU...

The 2014 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum Series Sedan - A Closer Look

The 2014 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum Sedan
A True Return To The Luxury Sedan

Dedicated to my brother Rudy...motivation

As of late there have been a lot of changes within the auto industry. Especially it seems over the last few decades. Several new genres of vehicles roam the streets now that didn't even exist a few years ago. To sum up the point quickly, we have a 4-door Porsche! Enough said.
Of course all of these new styles and types of vehicles are great additions to the auto industry overall. But as it so often does, progress steps over into tradition. I say so because although it seems that most of the car buyers today are in fact big fans of the new eco-friendly Hybrids cruising the streets today. The idea of saving the planet while also being more industrially-responsible is a great one indeed, as with all other things, in proportion. Should progress hold a sweet spot for tradition? Which brings about another question...What happened to traditional full-length luxury? Is it still okay to move about on 8-Cylinders, in style?
Just because we have become a more Eco-conscious society does not mean we have to forgo luxury. As inconsiderate as it may seem there are still some auto purist, traditionalist at heart that still and will always seek the un-compromised full-length ride of the luxury of the luxury sedan. For certain times...special times in life when arrival does in fact “set the overall tone”. When what you arrive in does matter.. Unfortunately luxury, true luxury simply cannot be adequately obtained on a budget. It can however be experienced at a reasonable price...that experience is solely called the 2014 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum Sedan. The true return to the full-size luxury sedan.

The TT Platinum Edition is by all means considered a special edition due to the extras thrown in. Elegant extras such as all-wheel drive, the 410-hp engine, a color head-up display, adaptive cruise control, front and rear automatic braking assist, hands-free keyless entry, articulating HID headlights, 20-inch wheels, a Bose 14-speaker sound system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and navigation. General Motors did a great job in disguising a $120,000 Sedan as a $60,000 Sedan. Fortunately being American does still has its perks! So let's take a look at the new kid on the block.

As the title suggest the 2014 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum edition is the much anticipated return to the “full' size luxury sedan. If the infamous Gas/Oil shortage of the 1980's showed us one thing clearly, it was that you can't compromise luxury, it has to be full-size. There just is no other way. Both a formal and casual mode of transportation, the Cadillac XTS TT Platinum edition is more than adequate transportation...in the name of pure luxury. Luxury can be and always has been summed up in 3 simple categories;
  • Power/Performance
  • Styling/Comfort
  • Safety
So let's take a closer look at all three in relation to the all-new Cadillac XTS TT Platinum Edition. A complete full-sized luxury Cadillac offered by General Motors for 2014.

Power/Performance – Maybe one of the most powerful engines ever placed under the hood of a Cadillac. The well-tested much proven 3.6L 410 HP Twin Turbo Direct Injection V6. A specially designed power plant designed to display enormous amounts of power in near silence moving the XTS and its passengers comfortably about from desired point A to B quickly, quietly and comfortably. This newly developed developed Twin-Turbo forces the XTS from 0-60 in under 5 seconds, all of course in the name of luxury. The 2014 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum Edition exhibits the perfect mixture of power and performance. Like a talented yet unknown boxer the XTS was released and after satisfying both consumers and critics alike, shot straight to the top.

The 2014 XTS is only allowed to operate at such extreme speeds due in large part to it massive stopping power. As we all know its much easier to get to something started than it is to stop it. Which is why stopping the XTS falls solely to its world-renowned “BREMBO” Braking system. Capable of bringing the XTS to complete stop in less than 115 feet.

Styling/Comfort – XTS the Platinum Collection, a supple collection of Hi-Grade top quality leather and wood perfectly situated within the cabin. Both elegantly highlighted by the ambient interior cabin lighting. The Platinum edition includes a nicely situated Sun-roof that adequately accepts Springtime and fully repels Fall. As a Cadillac by nature the XTS has to exceed all expectations when it comes to Comfort and Styling as well. Fortunately this has been met and exceeded in the 2014 Cadillac XTS. Inside, the interior of the XTS is ergonomically inclined to produce mobile comfort. The cabin touches each passenger independently. Each passenger is allowed to reach their own ambient comfort level as the Tri-Zone climate control system allows. Comfort is redefined as the XTS Dual-Mode Magnetic Ride Control Suspension seamlessly integrates both the itself and the road together as one.
At first glance the exterior is simply break-taking. The well placed accents of chrome do a great job of signifying the type of luxury at hand. Perfectly displaced on the 20' polished rims and tires the XTS seems ready to both move instantly and display represent beauty at a perfect standstill. The external features have been very well integrated into the overall design presented by Cadillac. As Tradition dictates this Cadillac is very sexy both inside and out. Yet the XTS is much more than a car, the Cadillac XTS TT Platinum edition is an intelligent machine capable of interacting with its both its driver and passengers. An intelligent exchange between man and machine.

Safety – Let's start by building on a successful past. By that I mean the 2013 Cadillac XTS we must remember did in fact receive the well coveted “5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety. Our Governments highest possible auto safety rating on any level. Since General Motors only made improvements on the XTS we can only assume it will again obtain the same rating. The 2014 comes standard with 10 Air bags along with a host of other safety features which of course makes this by definition a Cadillac. Maybe the most innovative of all the features is the GM Cadillac exclusive Safety Seat Alert. The system a true innovation on many levels works in tandem with other visual alerts. The system was designed with a singular purpose to quickly and accurately focus driver attention immediately in the direction of potential dangers. The Driver Awareness Package, available for the launch of the Cadillac XTS this spring, includes Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Cadillac is clearly making strides in innovation in science of automotive safety. Another innovative feature of the XTS are the exterior cameras. Drivers can see the outside of the car along with dynamic parking guides on the eight-inch LCD screen, located on the center instrument panel. As the car backs up, the seat provides a few quick pulses to both sides of the seat when an object is first detected directly behind the car, and then provides repeated pulses when an object is closer. Meanwhile, the Rear Cross Traffic Alert system looks for approaching cross traffic behind the vehicle that is signaled with either left or right pulses to the driver. All done in the name of safety, Cadillac safety.

Cadillac Connectivity – Now that technology has finally allowed us to integrate our communications and entertainment into our transportation. Cadillac has decided to use the XTS as a prime example of just how far technology can go to aid man in his quest for technological superiority. Cadillac has chosen several ways in which to keep its XTS connected in every way. The highlight of the Connectivity is the CUE system. Through voice recognition and touch screen command the XTS allows occupants to program into up to 10 Blue Tooth settings. Voice command allows one to place calls, select music all via voice command. CUE is fully operated via an 8' touch screen situated ambidextrously in the center console. In fact the the XTS is operated overall from the 8' touchscreen. The base of its technological features. The XTS is intended to reciprocate with its passengers to increase comfort, performance and safety at every instance.
From an entertainment perspective the combination of the Bose 14-Speaker Systems along with the Sirius Radio option is enough to provide adequate top of the line entertainment, the absolute utmost in mobile amusement. Rear Seat Entertainment, consist of a set of 8' flip screens w/wireless headphones and remote controls and of course Blu-Ray compatible. Each unit operates both in unison as well as independently of each other.

A Cadillac Conclusion

This is it, the 2014 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum series sedan is in fact a true bonafide return to the full-sized luxury sedan, thank you. Understandably we are fully engulfed in a social eco-conscious environment were every other car on the streets today is going to be tiny, economical, fuel efficient, uncomfortable. It is good to know there is still a savior for those that still treasure a nice ride, at all cost. The XTS fortunately offers a a nice ride, at all cost, reasonable cost by getting a scientifically displaced 18/24 MPG from its Twin Turbo V6.
So no matter what changes occur within the automotive industry it seems the Luxury Sedan will remain a long standing staple of the industry. There are it seems those enthusiast that still enjoy purely getting from point A to point B, in comfort, style and grace. All of which is clearly meant to be appreciated in and about the 2014 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum Sedan. A truly bonafide $120,000 experience neatly disguised in a $60,000 package. So if you don’t' want to spend ten of thousands on expensive repairs due to a short warranty-life or worse pay twice as much if not more for the small hard leather seats (that come full-blown standard in most if not all German-made luxury sedans). Then go ahead and pick up an XTS for a fraction of the price of most Sedans currently in its class, and with a much better warranty-life. This is General Motors at its finest, the '14 Cadillac XTS TT Platinum the lone representative of true full-sized luxury.
